 Curriculum

"Education is not preparation for life;
education is life itself".
-John Dewey

 Our Curriculum:

Glad Tidings Preschool uses the ABeka curriculum.

ABeka is a traditional approach to Christian education which keeps learning alive, interesting, and memorable. ABeka materials have been developed as a result of over thirty years of classroom experience in one of America’s largest, and most respected Christian schools, Pensacola Christian College,

 located in Pensacola, Florida.

2- year olds

In this class, students work on recognition of vowels and consonants, counting one to thirty, and are introduced to number concepts one to ten.

As part of the Abeka curriculum, teachers also consistently review days of the week, months in a year, as well as basic shapes and colors.

Children learn short Bible verses to memorize, and are asked to recite the verse at the end of the week to their teacher.

3- year olds

At this level, children progress to short vowel and consonant sounds, counting from one to fifty, as well as comprehension of number concepts one through fifteen.

Students begin studying people of other countries, while continuing to advance their fine and gross motor skills.

Fun music, poetry, story reading, and finger-plays are incorporated throughout the day to keep learning exciting!

Every week children will learn and memorize a new Bible verse to recite to their teachers at the end of week!

4- year olds

Our Preschool students, have a goal to read at a first grade level by the end of the school year.

Following the Abeka curriculum, our teachers provide introduction and consistent review of short and long vowel sounds, the two-vowel rule, and sentence structuring.

Students will also know how to count up to one hundred, learn number concepts up to twenty, count by fives and ten, and begin learning simple addition upon completion of preschool at

Glad Tidings.

Preschool classes are also required to learn and recite Bible verses weekly, in addition to studying a monthly Bible theme that coincides with the curriculum.
